Lactation Services:
Human milk is an amazing gift to support the growth and development of your newborn child. I became passionate about lactation after the challenges I faced with my own children, and I spent over two years at our local hospital providing basic lactation support through the WIC Peer Counselor Program. I spent three and a half years as the full time Lactation Consultant at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, providing services to postpartum families via prenatal education, clinical skills assessment, and counseling.
I was the Lactation Manager for the state of New Mexico WIC program for over 2.5 years, mentoring staff and peer counselors, creating policies and procedures to develop a strong scope of practice, and designing program materials and technology.
I take special interest in infants with respiratory and cardiac challenges, and ankyloglossia. I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2017, after completing over 140 hours of breastfeeding education, 1000 hours of clinical hours with direct patient contact, and 18 academic courses. It is the gold standard of lactation certification.
My IBCLC certification is current and was renewed in 2022.
I am also currently BLS certified.
